If you pound a nail into a piece of wood and drive a screw into a piece of wood, then you try to remove them, which removes with the least amount of effort? The nail of course; often you can’t just pull a screw out and if you do it takes a large chunk of wood with it.
If you were anchoring a structure, let’s say an engineered steel structure which doesn’t necessarily weigh a lot but that needs to be fastened securely to the ground so that it doesn’t blow away with the wind, you need a foundation which can support a high tensile load.
The image on the right is an excellent demonstration of how a Postech steel pile can not only support large weight loads but also be hugely effective as a ground anchor.
To remove the pile by pulling you need to not only pull out the pile but you’ll also need to pull out the soil in the shaded area. The large the helical and the further the steel pile is driven, the more upward pressure it can withstand.
Now, if it takes so much pressure to pull out the pile, it would only make sense that it would take just as much to push it further. However, not only is that true but because the soil continues indefinitely, the support a steel pile achieves against downward pressure is even greater.
If you require an effective ground anchor system to tie down and support your structure, whether it be an engineered structure, solar panel, solid deck, awning, gazebo, etc. Postech has Canada’s highest quality and best performing steel piles at a price that will leave you smiling.
