What’s a solid foundation option for garages, workshops, sheds and warehouses? Heavy duty galvanized helical screw piles.
Why should you consider helical screw piles for your next project?
1) They install quickly and require zero curing so you can build faster;
2) They can be installed to a depth below the frost line anchoring the pile in solid movement-free soil;
3) The equipment is relatively light weight and extremely versatile to access locations where road restrictions are in place and where the landscape and accessibility of the site is an issue; and
4) They can be installed in troubled soil conditions such as sloppy silt, sand, expansive clays and where the water table is high.
Below is an example of a recent project for Postech Winnipeg where six piles were installed for a garage slab. Each pile was lengthened using extensions to a final depth of 30 feet, anchoring the pile in solid bedrock and generating capacities in excess of 25,000 lbs.
From the pictures below you will see that the garage (which was also built entirely on screw piles) was already built and accessibility was limited. By digging with our mini-excavator, our primary installation equipment, we were able to get the piles right where they needed to be despite an overhead obstacle.
